This year, funding from Arts Council England has helped us to continue our mission of supporting emerging artists from the UK and around the world, bringing thought provoking theatre to the forefront.
As well as allowing us to make this writing development opportunity more accessible and completely free! Helping to support artists regardless of location, caring obligations or financial limitations.

Open submissions
This year, we’ll host five online readings of brand new scripts via Zoom, offering guidance and support to the playwrights on the next steps for their play.
From these five scripts, one will be selected to receive a two day in-person R&D in the autumn, working with professional actors to further develop the piece. This will be followed by a live scratch night performance at a fantastic central London venue, presented to an audience and invited industry guests!
Selected playwrights will have the opportunity to explore their work in a safe, supportive and collaborative environment. Working closely with professional actors, theatremakers and the Rcreatives team, each script will be read in full and thoughtfully discussed - from its themes and structure to its characters and wider social impact.

We are looking for new plays destined for the stage.
They can be short or full length plays, polished or still in development. Our selection process will be based on the development stage of the play, the social relevance of its themes and if it meets our efforts of inclusion and diversity.
The selected five playwrights will:
Have a pre-reading meeting with our team to discuss their desired outcomes
Hear their play in its entirety read by professional actors and discussed by industry peers
Be able to invite relevant guests to attend the reading (i.e. Possible future producers or directors)
Receive in-depth literary feedback from our resident dramaturg - Melissa Sylverson
Receive the recording of the reading and thought sharing session for them to revisit and reflect on in their own time
Be considered for further development through a two-day, in-person R&D with professional actors, culminating in a live scratch night performance in central London
