Join our online reading on Zoom in which participants will be invited to read the play or just listen from the comfort of their own home. The reading will be followed by a thought sharing session and opportunity to ask the writer about their work.


We expect the session to take up to 2.5/3 hours with an interval.

With growing tension and anti migrant sentiments spreading across the UK, this beautifully written play holds no punches in exploring the human lives that it affects. 


Set in modern day East Belfast, Val (Farishta) Fitzpatrick fled Afghanistan decades ago and reinvented herself as a suburban pet shop owner. Widowed and fiercely independent, Val keeps her world carefully contained: cages cleaned, tills balanced, and trouble kept firmly outside the door.
